would have-starved to death in the first eight months of the war had it not been for regtnlar American supplies bought and paid for by the donations of the charitable. Then they have got a system by which the men contribute so much money per week to this or that war fund. Through my father I am contributing live dollars a week to a fund that looks after the Belgians—that is said to be euugli to kejp a Bjlgian family in food for a week."
