MONDAY, DEC. 6, 1915 THE NEED FOR RECRUITS
Published Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Evenings.
The Defence Department is at present somewhat concerned in regard to the falling off in the enlistment of recruits for the N.Z. re-info: c .ments, and fears that this state of affairs will be somewhat accentuated during the coming holiday seasou. The number of men 'that have already enlisted is distinctly creditable to the Dominion) but of course there is need for more mem as successive re-inforcements as arranged may be kept up to the full strength. These re-inforcements have to be made up by certain periods, and a lack of numbers for any one has a far reaching effect unless the requisite men are obtainable to time. It is expected that the National Registration papers will show that there is yet a large number of eligible young men who have not yet enlisted, and for the credit of New Zealand it is to be hoped that there will quickly be a willing response to the need of the Defence Department for recruits. The war has to be brought to a successful conclusion, aqd we feel sure that New Zealand will continue to nobly do its share in assisting the Allies in their great task.
