The Minister for Defe: c ', the Hon. James Allen, informed a Weliugton reporter that the Government has decided to increase the pay of non-commissioned officers—serving with the Expeditionary Force by is per day, or 7s per week. This money will not be available for soldiers to draw for their personal expenditure when absent from New Zealand, but will be paid to their wives by way of increased separation allowance. considered that married men actually needed moife pay than single men.
