The practice of sending wfiite feathers to men who have not gen£ to the front has commenced m Wellington. A certain member of the Permanent Artillery has received nearly sufficient feathers to to make a duster with, and he has vowed vengeance on any discovered senders. The artilleryman in question is not permitted to go to the front, but he is a keen soldier, and resents the insults. The services of N.C.O’s of the Permanent staff and of members of the Permanent Artillery are required by the Government for training recruits.
