Te Aroha District High School.
Monthly Meeting.
The monthly meeting of the High School Committee was held on Monday evening, the following members were present : Rev. W. C. Blair, Chairman ; Rev. G. Wells-Smailes ; Messrs. J. D. Morison, Smith, H. Dalton, and the Secretary, Mr. G. Sherlock.
—Correspondence—
A letter was received from the Education Board, refusing the Committee’s request for additional chairs for the Committee’s use. On the motion of Mr Dalton, it was decided to renew the application.
A letter of resignation from Mr J. Tom Merry was received with regret.
—Account—
The tallowing accounts were passed for payment: Electricity Department (Te Aroha Borough) 19s 4d; Mrs Ledstone, £3 12s 6d; f. Swaysland, 3s ; J. T. Maingay ; 7s 6d ; Redgrave and Kirby, 5s qd
—Labour Day—
On the motion of Mr Dalton, it was decided to grant the scholars a whole holiday on the 28th October (Labour Day). Manual Training School
A letter was received from the Obinemuri County Council, guaranteeing the sum of £lO towards the proposed Te Aroha Manual Training School.
On the motion of Mr Dalton, it was resolved that the members of the Committee be empowered to collect subscriptions with others willing to assist. Also that subscription Ifsts be sent to all the school committees interested. The Secretary was instructed to reply to communications received, relating to this matter. It was resolved to open a banking account in the name of the Chairman, Secretary and Headmaster, acting_as trustees to the fund.
