SUMMER MEETING.
RESULT OF SECOND DAY. The second day’s racing of the Te Aroha Jockey Club was well attended, but nothing like as many as the first day. The races were run off in good and same good finishes resulted. The Trot, however, proved a farce," and the finish was greeted with hoots and groans. During the Hurdle Race Mr M. Crimmins’ Lord Crispin rose too soon to the hurdle, striking it heavily, and turning a complete somersault, broke his neck: the jockey was not seriously injured. The officers of the Club all carried out their Jrespective duties in a satisfactory manner.
The heat was intense, and a few shelter trees, a row or two of i willows, would add greatly to the pleasure of sight-seers. The following are the results : Tourist Plate Handicap, of 20sovs. Distance, 6 furlongs. Mr Kelly’s Liberty .. 1 Mr Morrison's Waiotahi .. 2 Mr Davis’ Frontino .. .. .3
