Our Drink Bill.
ANOTHER INCREASE
Christchurch. March 2. The Rev, E. Walker’s annual cal culation of New Zealand’s drink bill shows that for 1908 the expenditure exceeded 3f millions (£3,751,968) being an increase of £84,586 on the previous year, but the reduction Js 4|d per head of population. The calculation represents that the costs to the consumers of all liquor passed through the Customs and excise had been purchased at per gallon rates, and is therefore much under the actual cost.
