HOLBORN ELECTION. London, December 8.
The Marquis of Salisbury, in referring to the election of a representative for Ilolborn (Finsbury) district, stated that, in his opinion, the reduced majority of the Conservative candidate, as compared with that ot last election, was mainly due to the strong Liberal candidate selected, while their previous nominee was a Farsec. He added that in the last election it was asking too inucl/ for an Englishmen to vote for a man of colour. The Liberals resent the sneering remarks of the Marquis, of Salisbury directed towards au Indian subject, and his speech has created* some excitement among ' the, 1 ' Indian press.
