TOWN BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Te Aroha Town Board wns held on Saturday evening last. Present — Corns Gallagher (chair. nan), El>ert, Heathcote (acting clerk), fitifi Mills. Minutes: Tlip minutes of last monthly meeting, and also of special meeting held on Nov. 19 th, wer read and confirmed. There was no correspondence to deal with. The Chairman stated that nothing had been done re fencing the gravel pit (mentioned at last monthly meeting), as the road was only used by one person, and he said there was no danger at present ; also that the contract for spreading metal was let, and that steps had been taken to have the road near Lipsey's bridge repaired. The Poundkeeper's report, accompanied by a commission of Is 9d, was received. The Clerk (Mr Heathcote), said that as his duties were so numerous he could not fulfil the office of Clerk and Collector as he would like, he therefore tendered his resignation } which, on the motion of Com Mills, seconded by Com Ebtu't, was accepted. Corn Mills stated that in a conversation with Mr Chas. Ahiev he had offered to act as Clerk and Collector free of all charge, on condition that , the Town Board office was transferred to his (Mr A bier's) house. Resolved on the motion of Com Mills, seconded Com Ebert, that the ojffur of Mr Ahier be accepted, and the* office of the Board removed to })is house". ■ Resolved, Thnt the" place For' holding future meetings be left in the hands of the Chairman. Com Ebert offered the use of the sample room' at the Palace Hotel, but nothing was done in the matter. Resolved, That the Win ling- of the metal on the Te Aroha Waioforigomai road be left in the hands of* the* Works Committee to have carried out. An account ,of R. Michael's for, L 3 10s 6d was passed for payment. This. was all; the business. ' '
