Alleged Cruelty on an American Whaleship. [BY TELEGRAPH.—"STAR" REPORTER.] Russell, J une 14.

I find from tho Petrel's log-book that the cooper was ontorod as crazy on August 25, and as paving been confinod in the sail-pen for nineteen consecutive days. Afterwards, on January 10, tho cooper is ontered as "sick, crazy; refused medicine and food," 13tn—" Cooper died ; unknown disease." At tho resumed inquiry, Hutchineon, the steward, told a blood-curdling tale of cruel- ' ties, and concluded by calling on tho Government for protection as an English subject. Once he heard tho captain say of tho cooper —" The old cuss ! If there- was any poison in the modicino chest he'd get it!" The doctor at Norfolk Island told the captain to I send tho sick man ashore, when the latter replied, "If God Almighty came down from heaven and interfered with his business, he would tell Him to j<o to h !" Tho evidence to-day was gonoially corroborativo of the more serious charger-. Tho cabin boy paid that Foloy stripped him naked, and beat him with a ropo tsll ho was black aed blue. Manual Fobarro heard the captain tell the olficorfl it the cooper did not obey to knock his brains outJoe King heard the Captain say, " Finish up the Coopor ; throw him ovorboard t" Sandford Beach complained that ho was often kicked and beaten by tho captain and first mate. His evidonco also showed horrible cruolty to many of the crew. It is expected that the inquiry will codclude to-night.
