Swimming Carnival.

All arrangements in connection with the Swimming Carnjval to be held to-morrow are now complete, and as the weather appears to be set fine, a most enjoyable afternoon is anticipated.

To the general public we would stress the importance of the good work the Taihape Swimming Club Is doing in popularising this healthy and most useful sport. The importance of being able to swim is impressed upon us almost daily, and were this accomplishment more general we should be spared th e necessity of chronicling drowning accidents thro'ugh inability to swim. , We hope the public will patronise the carnival to-morrow in such numbers as to save the Club any anxiety as to financial results. They have put on a really first-class programme of 12 events, which includes, in addition to the ordinary swimming races, some items that will add considerably to the gaiety of the afternoon The Carnival starts at. 2.30, and afternoon tea will be obtainable on the ground. t - Donations of trophies, etc., have been received from the following gentlemen, who are taking an active interest in the sport: Messrs C.
