SEVERE FIGHTING CONTINUES.
BRITISH IMPROVE POSITION. LDNDON, Oct. 3. Sir Douglas Haig reports that there was severe fighting in and about Bat*court lAbbaye. The enemy regained a footing in the buildings, but we improved our position south-west or Guendencourt and eastward and northward of Courcelette. Aeroplanes bombed several points of military importance. Many enemy machines were downed.
