FAREWELL TO RECRUITS. MOST SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. An interesting event took place in the Public Hall, Gardner's Mill, Turangarere, on Friday evening, the occasion being the farewelling. presentation and send-off to Mr A. P. Gardner, manager of the "Little Mill," and Mr Alf. Dumford, an employee, who have volunteered for the front, and who are going into camp at Trentham. There Avas a numerous company of friends present. Mr C. Dunford, on behalf of the ;fibscribers, made the presentation, which consisted of a handsome gold bracelet watch, suitably inscribed, and which ■were fastened on the wrists' Of.-the recipients by Miss McPhee. Mr A. P. Gardner and Mr Alf.?D'':uford .suitably acknowledged thei gifts. \fter the presentation dancing and songs were the order of the evening. the music being supplied by Mrs Arthur of Hihitahi, and extras by Messrs Arrow, Jenkins and Huckstep. Songs were ably rendered by Mrs Arthur. MiBert Gardner. Campbell and Mulvey, Mr H Baitle officiated as M.C. Mi excellent supper was provided, by the ladies of Turangarere, which was highly appreciated.
