TERRIBLE CONFLAGRATION CAUSED BY WGERMAN'S HAMMER. MANY LIVES LOST. (Rec. 5.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 28. At Ardmore, Oklahoma, a spark from a workman's hammer ignited a tank of car gasoline. Two city blocks were razed as a result of the .explosion and fires. Thirty-five bodies were recovered. Fifty persons are believed to be crashed to death under the falfleri walls. Search is proceeding in a large departmental store, where it is feared are bodies of many girl and women shoppers, and employees of the stcrs. Fires caused by the flaming gascl:.;e were thrown over the blocks. Martial law was declared. A panic followed the explosion. Every building on either side of the main street was demolished.. Over splintered buildings for blocks around the flaming gasoline was thrown, starting fires in stores. Rescue parties were quickly formed, but all communication with the outside world was cut off. In five hours two hundred injured' were taken to the hospital.
