WANGANUI BRASS BAND.

BAND CONCERTS. The programmes for the serins if band concerts, to be put on by Quoei> Alexandra's Own Regimental Bana, are now in the hands Of the printer, and will be placed before the public today. Although three concerts are t> be given, tjhere will be no repetition, for the three programmes have beea arranged to give the public a good ideaof the scope of the band's work. In Saturday night's programme appears one test piece, and the solo items are in the hands of the best soloists of the Dominion. In referring again to Mr Shepley, itmay be noted that he ranks second to his conductor, Lieutenant Buckley, as a solo cornet, and will play as such,, but his popularity is increased by his being such a finished concertina player. The public seem to hunger for more, the more he plays, and a treble encore is often called. Tjh e attractiveness of the concerts will be added to in no small measure by the fact that Mr G. Swan, who is well known in this district as an elocutionist in high favour, will introduce monologue Nothing more need be said than that George Swan is coming, and many who ha*3 heard this gentleman before will b 3 ou.'y toopleased to renew the acquaintance. In order that the business people and the Saturday night shoppers may hearr the full programme, it has been decided tlhat the concert shall commence at. 8.39.
