MILLIONAIRE AND ARTISTS MODEL.
That she was detained against her will and compelled by threats to submit to a beating with a rod wielded by Mr Kobert Barbour, the American millionaire thread manufacturer, is the allegation of Miss May Kollins, a New York artist's model. Miss Rollins is claiming £50,000 damages for alleged assault and a further £50,000 for breach of promise of marriage. Mr Barbour' friends and attorney declare the charges are preposterous. Mr Barbour, who i 3 35, unmarriod, 6ft sin high, and weighs 28st, is trustee and a large beneficiary in the estato of his father, Colonel William Barbour, who was reputed to have left £10.000,000. Two deputy sheriffs, armed with an order for the arrest of Mr Barbour, waited at the Mauretanla's pier until the vessel had sailed without finding him. IJ is believed that he may have boarded the liner with other belated passengers after she had left the pier, since at the time of sailing Mr Barbour's name was not checked off on the passenger sheet as being aboard.
