The Pope has issued a manifesto in which he declares that war is not over if men are still fighting among themselves. Moral damage is greater than material. The live evils which afflict present day society are:— (1) The lack of disclipline. ' (2) The Hatred among brothers. . ($) The craving for pleasures and enjoyment. (4) The refusal to work, (5) The loss of faith in God. /~. Nations and peoples will endeavour in vain to reconstruct if they Jforget what is written in the Holy Books, and that reconstruction is impossible without God's cooperation. It is the mission and the. duty of the Pope to remind society of this fact. "I shall devote all. my efforts," he says, "for a return t<> belief in the Gospel."
