JAPAN RETAINS HOLD ON GERMAN CABLES.
ADOPTS SIMILAR ATTITUDE TO FRANCE AND BRITAIN. (A. & N.Z.) (Eec. December 6, 8.5 a.m.) NEW YOEK, December 4. Japan refuses to surrender the ex-German cables in the Pacific, seized during the War. Japan’s attitude, it is stated, is similar to that of France and Great Britain regarding the Atlantic cables. Thus, the three countries are in opposition to the American Government’s views, which resulted in a conference here, preliminary to the World Communications Conference. Officials here declare that the United States is more interested in wiping out all restrictions on international communication than in the ownership of cables. /
