ADDINGTON MARKET.

CHEAPER FAT STOCK. There were large yardings in most departments at the metropolitan market at Addington to-day. Particularly was this the case in the sections devoted to fat stock, and butchers were thus able to purchase on better terms than has been the case recently. Farmers were present in fair numbers. STORE SHEEP. A medium entry of store sheep was penned, hoggets representing a lesser proportion than usual. Lines from outside the province were again offered. There -were a fair number of passings, and rates were somewhat easier for wethers and ewes. Rates were as follow: Wether hoggets 22/3 to 28/2. Ewe hoggets, to 30/8. Mixed-sex hoggets, to 27/6. Cull hoggets, 16/- to 20/-. Fairly good two, four, six and eighttooth ewes in lamb, 25/2 to 37/8. S. and f.m. ewes 22/6 to 29/9. Six and eight-tooth wethers, 28/7 to 37/6. Four and six-tooth wethers, 32/10 to 36/-. Sales -were as follow:

The N.Z. Farmers' Co-op. Association, Ltd., sold: On account clients, 43 six and eight-tooth 'wethers 37/6, 35 six and eight-tooth wethers 35/1. The National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., sold: On account clients, 57 four and six-tooth wethers 34/1, 67 four and six-tooth wethers 34/5, 111 four and six-tooth wethers 36/-, 20 eight-tooth wethers 34/-, 110 aged ewes in lamb 28/6, 102 m.s. hoggets 27/6, 109 f.m. ewes in lamb 29/9.

DaJgety and Co., Ltd., sold: On account clients, 57 m.s. hoggets 30/3. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., sold: On account clients, 14 wether hoggets 22/3, 63 22/5. 31 two-tooth wethers 26/-, 25 two-tooth wethers 26/2, 136 ewe hoggets 28/3, 136 wether hoggets 28/2, 274 wether hoggets 27/4. H. Matson and Co. sold: On account clients, 500 two, four and six-tooth ewes in lamb 39/8, 214 four and six-tooth wethers 33/11, 164 four and six-tooth wethers 32/-, 80 four, six and eighttooth ewes in lamb 32/-, 64 m.s. hoggets 26/3. FAT SHEEP. The yarding of fat sheep comprised 13 races. Included in this large yarding were some very nice lines, but there was a bigger proportion of lighter and unfinished than has been the case at recent sales. There was not the same inquiry that prevailed at pre-national sales, and rates opened easier, a number of pens being passed. FAT CATTLE. There was a very large yarding of fat cattle, about 350 head being present r at the commencement of the sale. There were many prime cattle on offer. In the opening stages of the sale, prices were on a par with the sale beforo Grand National Week. Later, however, there was a fairly pronounced easing. A very large yarding of store cattle came forward, the quality and condition covering a wide range. A large consignment from the Netherwood Estate was entered. There were some good lines of two and three-year-old steers in the yarding, and a fair collection of yearling and eighteen-months-old cattle. But there was also a good proportion of nondescript sorts. The sale was followed by a large number of graziers, many from the back country. The market was firm, quotations being as follow: Two-year-old heifers, £6 15/- to £7 776. Two-year-old steers, to £B. Eighteen-months-old cattle, £5 to £5 10/-.

Three and four-year-old steers, to £l4. Store cows (good), £6 to £9. DAIRY COWS. Inferior beasts comprised a good proportion of the entry in the dairy cow section, which was larger than usual. Old springing cows in store condition helped to depress matters. VEALERS. An average lot of vealcrs, both ns regards numbers and description, were offered to butchers. The inquiry was keen, and there was no falliug-off from recent firm values. Quotations are:— Runners to £9 17/6. Good vealers .to £7 5/-. Medium calves to £4 7/6. Inferior to 35/-. FAT PIGS. There was a medium entry and a pariiciilarlv keen demand was experienced, the eale being practically a record one. Values were: — (.'hoppers £8 to £lO 5/-. Light baeoners £6 10/- to £7 5/-. Heavy baconcrs £7 15/- to £8 10/-. Extra heavy baconers to £9. Average price per lb, 1/0} to 1/1. Porkers £4 10/- to sgns. Heavy porkers £5 15/- to £6 5/-. Average price per lb, 1/2 to 1/3.
