RACING CARNIVAL.

CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB. Though the weather conditions were anything but favourable, there Was a fair attendance at Riccarton this afternoon, when the Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting was brought to a conclusion. The track was very heavy, but the fields were of quite average strength for a, third day. Details are:— HUNTERS' PLATE" HANDICAP (Flat), of 140 sovs. One riiilc mid a-half. 1 E. \V. Racing along the back straight, Blazcaway and lnnisfallen were in charge from Grim Joke. Once in line for home Slgnysian took charge, but he failed to stall off a late run by Blazeaway, who won by a length. Grim Joke was four lengths away, followed by Gaekwar. Time, 3mln 3sec. . When the stand double was reached Golden Grape and Sonny were showing the way from John Bunny. At Cutts's fence Golden Grape, was three lengths clear of Sonny, and going along the back Lawsuit ran into second place. When the Kennels double had been negotiated Lawsuit closed on the leader, and they entered the home stretch on terms. Lawsuit was first over the final jump and won very easily by six lengths from Golden Grape. Eight lengths further back came John Bunny, followed by Sonny. Time, smln 20sec. HEATHCOTE HANDICAP (Flat), of 350 sovs. Seven furlongs.

At the distance Dainty Step was in charge, but in a great finish Arch Salute got the better of her by half n length. Over a length back came Bengeroop, followed by Sir Fanciful. Time, limn 36gsec.
