Music was supplied by Humphreys' Band, and the duties of M.C.'s were carried out by Messrs .1. Dick and T. Coulter. There was a very large attendance, and the ball was in every way a great success.

While 11.M.5. Renown was here, members of the Harbour Lights Girls' Club were prominent in the entertainment of the petty officers and men. An appreciation, ih the shape of a letter couched in grateful and cordial terms, has just been received, conveying the thanks of all for the •'kindness, courtesy, and entertainment" shown them while in Christchureh. The letter was acompanied by a photograph of the chief and other petty officers, ami one of the ship, which the club were asked to accept as a memento of the gratitude expressed in the letter. Last night the Cadena Tea Rooms was the scene of a very happy little dance. The room was prettily decorated with spring (lowers, and everything went with a swing. Miss Maedonald supplied the music. Teinpler, vice-principal of the Mt. Pleasant School, Vancouver, on the subject, mainly, of Parents' and Teachers' Associations in Canada. The tall; was given at the Normal College, Miss Blaekmore (vice-president of the j U.K.A., i -being in the chair. The associations in question, Mrs Templer said, ] vito somewhat like the school committees in New Zealand. They were the go-betweens in regard to the needs of the school and those in authority over! it; !li" association itself had no authority, lint it still performed much useful work. It raised funds for such things as school libraries, extra furnishings, and so forth, besides doing much good in promoting a better understanding and better feeling than usual between teachers and parents, and, consequently, teachers and pupils. There was a P. and T. association connected with almost every school in Canada, and Mrs Tcmpler thought that the idea might be adopted with advantage in New Zealand. Mrs Tcmpler later on touched upon the question of educating the subnormal children, who, she explained. were put in a special class and g%ven special instruction. At the close of her talk a hearty vote of thanks was accorded her. on the motion of Mrs R. Hastie. Baby Clothes from Paris.—A small selection of the most exquisite baby clothes has just arrived by post from Paris at Salon Celia, and include? some of the daintiest work imaginable in robes and frocks. The needlework on these goods is perfect, and the designs and fabrics all that could be desired. — No. 6 Royal Exchange Buildings. .7

One new member was elected.
