Owing to the wetness of the soil about Jin only covered tho ground at 9 a.m. to-day, but the indications then were for further occasional showers. The rainfall (including snow) to 9 a.m. was 43 points, making 329 points for the month. But the fall on the hills is very heavy. The fall is reported to be practically general throughout the district. Snow also covers the upper levels of the Peninsula ranges. Suow has fallen at Kirwee, and is aJso*reported in most North Canterbury districts, although on the lower levels rain showers have prevented it from covering the ground. The back country districts, in some cases, are"well coated. At the Clarence Valley about nine inches were reported yesterday, and there were further snow showers.
