MOTORING.

AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION. The council of the Canterbury Automobile Association met last evening, there being present:—Messrs J. S. Hawkes (chairman), F. Freeman, R. Macartney, B. Falck, F. W. Johnston, F. D. Sargent, B. W. Lochhead, A. S. Clarkson. The secretary reported that the Templeton School Committee had been notified, in response to a request, that go-slow signposts would he provided for the vicinity of the school. The committee had stated that two accidents had been narrowly averted recently. The secretary reported that go-slow signposts had been supplied to Heathcote County Council. The New Zealand Automobile Union wrote 'asking the association to reconsider its resignation from the union. It was decided to reply that the council was not prepared to reconsider its decision. The Tawera County Council wrote regarding drivers' licenses, and it was decided to reply that the mutter was being attended to through Parliament. It was decided to write to the Tramway Board drawing its attention, to the danger represented by trailers being left at the various termini. The Christchurch City Council wrote stating that the licenses of two taxi drivers had been cancelled for careless driving. It was decided to compliment the council on its action. The chairman was appointed the association's delegate at a conference to be held in the Christchurch City Council Chamber on August 17 witli regard to traffic regulations. , The. Halswell County Council wrote asking for the assistance of the association in shortening the Tai Tapu bridge. It was decided to make a donation of £5 '■>,'-. The following new members were elected:
