CYCLING.
A cycle road race over a course of 17 miles was held ut Lecston on Saturday evening, under the auspices of the Ellcsmere and Doyleston Athletic Clubs. A strong wind prevented last times. Nine competitors started, and six finished. Prizes were £!>, £2,. and £l, with a gold medal for fastest time. The result was:—H. Baal (limin) 1, H. D. Jones (lJmin) 2, Boh uiwson (Amiii) 3. In a close finish Baal made fastest time (53min 28sec). A cycle road race over the Mairehau block, a distance of about four and a-half miles, was held by the Telegraph Messengers' Club last week. The result was: T. B. Jackson (scr) 1 and fastest time (riding time 13min 3!) see), A. E. Lang (40scc) 2 (Umiii 20sec), J. T. R. Jamieson (scr) 3 (13min 48sec). \V. E. Appleyard (scr) secured fastest time unplaced (Uinln 12sec).
