Oldsmobile and Premier

Among all the displays at the Olympia Motor Show in the Colosseum there is none more interesting than that of the Dominion Motors, Ltd., which has its Canterbury headquarters at 141 Gloucester Street, next to the Theatre Royal. The firm's display is of Oldsmobile and Premier cars. Oldsmobile —that is a name to conjure with in the history of motoring, a name which brings up visions of famous cars .through all the years in the development of the automobile. It is the product of engineers who have been engaged in motor-building for over 20 years and who have always kept "one ahead" of their competitors. Twenty years of specialisation by such men as the Oldsmobile engineers does not mean 20 years of standing still, or anything like it—it means 20 years of almost uninterrupted progress—the only interruption was that enforced by America's participation in the Great War. The Oldsmobile always has been a favourite, because of its reliability, its economy of upkeep, its adaptability to all sorts of motoring conditions, and the ease with which it is operated. Now its engineers have so developed the principles on which the Oldsmobile has been built that they have produced a car which for beauty, comfort, speed and light petrol consumption is unbeatable at a moderate price. The Oldsmobile cars which are shown by Dominion Motors, Ltd., at the "Olympia" are a revelation of combination of elegance with usefulness. Both six-cylinder and eightcylinder models are shown. A truly beautiful car is the "Premier, six-cylinder, in the firm's display. It is. a car de luxe—one that is aptly named. It is just the "last thing" in American cars, having the magnetic gear change, and-any visitor to the show who fails to inspect this beautiful model of engineering skill will miss an eye-opening display that is worth going a long way to see. For beauty of lines, for fine finish and comfortable and artistic furnishing, for silent running, for hill-climbing ability, • for simplicity of gear change, for low petrol consumption—indeed, for everything that makes a motor car a source of real and continual joy to its owner, the Premier cannot be beaten. It is certain that in the Oldsmobile and Premier cars the firm which had the business acumen to obtain the selling rights for them in this part of the globe has two winners. And one immediately finds the inevitable sequel to that long-sightedness. The business of Dominion Motors, Ltd., is expanding to such an extent that already the firm is carrying out extensive alterations and additions to its garage and workshop. When that work is completed, one of the largest and best-equipped garages in Canterbury will be that at 141 Gloucester Street.
