Dodge Brothers' Motors.

Statistics representing the production of motor cars in America these days present such huge totals that it is difficult for a person not directly connected with the industry to believe that the collector of statistics has not drawn slightly on his imagination. By means of photographs and kinematograph films, correct information is gradually being disseminated. Still it is probable that comparatively few people who have not visited the city of Detroit, U.S.A., realise the size of the actual buildings used for manufacturing Dodge Brothers' motor cars, the sole agents for which in Canterbury are J. S. Hawkes, Ltd., Durham Street, Christchurch. These works cover some 72 acres of floor space alone. Every three days at this wonderful hive of industry approximately $1,000,000■worth of motor cars leaves the establishment, and still the demand is so insistent that it is an extremely difficult matter to distribute the output equitably. The motor car which the public der-"nds in large quantities must be manufactured at a low cost, and sold on a narrow margin. It is the successful solution of this problem that has given the Dodge Brothers' car its strong position to-day. It. is because the firm of Dodge Brothers has seen a vision and has had the courage to build and organise to make its vision real, that the industry has grown and prospered. In four years more than 300,000 ' Dodge Brothers' cars have been built and sold and have gone into practically every civilised country of the world. The reputation of these cars for steady, consistent performance and for economy is so well and universally established that~it is taken for granted, and dealers are called upon less and less frequently to point out to prospective buyers the excellence of the several mechanical features. Their efficiency and the riding qualities of the cars are generally conceded. The beauty of the finish and the permanency—resulting from Dodge Brothers' unique process of baking the enamel, on the steel body—are equally well known. Dodge Brothers believe that the permanence and stability of their business depend upon the confidence people feel in the two men who direct the building of their cars. Therefore their entire time and thought are devoted to making the car better and better. Any car, bearing the name of ' "Dodge Brothers" conforms with the high standard they have set for themselves. Particulars of the cars of this . famous company may be obtained from the Canterbury agents, J. S. Hawkes, Ltd., Motor Importers, Durham Street, Cbristchurch.
