METHVEN.
At the annual general meeting or the subscribers of the Methvcn Hall Company Mr Win. Morgan presided over a good attendance of shareholders. The balance-sheet showed a loss of £8 on the year's working A long discussion took' place on the state of disrepair of the hall, and it was resolved to endeavour to raise £4OO for the purpose of renovating the hall, both inside and out, and also of adding a lounge to the present building. As a result, it was tlccided to hold a carnival in the way of bazaars, lug-of-war, and art unions," etc Mr W. Morgan donated a quarter-acre town section as first prize for the art union, and a good number of other prizes were promised. It was resolved to bold a public meeting at an early date to appoint a strong working committee to organise and carry out the details.
