BATTLE EXPLOITS.

It was announced in the House of Commons that the Battle Exploits Memorial Committee had received 117 claims to erect memorials by individual units. All Australian and New Zealand claims to date had been approved. Belgium, it was said, had agreed to reserve sites, including Passchendaele, St. Julien, Gravenstafel, Zonnebeke, Hooge, Polygon Wood, Sanctuary Wood, Hill 63, Neuve Eglise, Yprcs, Messjues, Zillebeke, Wytschaetc, St. Eloi. Hill CO, and Kemmel. The committee states that negotiotions are proceeding for French sites, including Pozieres, Vimy, Moschv-Le Preux, Bourlon Wood, and Villers Brettonneux. Arrangements for Gallipoli and Palestine are under discussion. Where sites are not given, the committee undertakes to acquire land if the units bear the cost of purchase. The question of the upkeep of the memorials has not yet been decided.
