BANKRUPT ESTATE.
MEETING OF CREDITORS. The meeting of creditors in, the bankrupt estate of George Gordon Clark, raotorman, of Arthur's Pass, called for" yesterday afternoon, lapsed for want of a quorum,, and an adjournment sine die was made. • In a sworn statement, the bankrupt deposed that he had been in business as a motor-driver for the-Public Works Department at Arthur's Pass for the past four or five years. For a few years prior to that he was employed as a carpenter by the same department. The causes of his bankruptcy, he stated, were as follow:—J. S. Brake obtained judgment against him for damages and costs amounting to £75 13/10 in an action for slander, but as he was a married man with a delicate wife, and in receipt of wages averaging only £4 10/per week he Was unable to meet his liabilities and was forced to file. He has no property and could make no offer to his creditors. . The unsecured creditors were: Mrs F. • Harper, Addington, boardhousekeeper, £l7 2/-; John S. Brake, Arthur's Pass, storekeeper, £75 IS/10; Mrs W. Keys, 32 Ashbourpe Street, Woolston, 16/-; and Mrs E. Powell, 514 St. Asaph Street, Christchurch, 16/-; the total amount being £94 7/10.
