MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
LYTTELTON. Mr V. G. Day, S.M., presided at the Lyttclton Magistrate's Court this morning. Senior-Sergeant Jackson, before the proceedings of the Court commenced, spoke of his long acquaintance with Mr Day, and took the opportunity of congratulating him on his return to North Canterbury. Mr Day returned thanks. Breaches of Order.—John Dixon Birkctt was fined 20/- and costs for procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. William Stone, for the first breach of his order, was fined 5/- and costs. Donnld McDonald, on charges of procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, was fined 40/- and costs in respect to two Informations, in default seven days' imprisonment. Civil Coses. —Judgment by default was given in the following eases:—Forbes, Ltd. v. J. Hepburn, £l2 2/2 and costs; same v. John Simpson, £3O 18/6 and costs.
