STRIKE THREATENED.
BUTCHERS DISSATISFIED. Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 4. The employers in the butchery businesses decided that they could not agree to the demands of the men for increased pay. The union secretary states that the matter will have tobe fought out, and the position will resolve itself into a strike on Friday week if the demands are not granted. [lt was announced last week that the failure of the butchers' employees tO»get the full amount asked for. In their demand for increased wages from the Arbitration Court, had led them to issue an ultimatum to the employers that, unless those demands were acceded to, they would strike within seven days. They asked for £4 per week for all shopmen. The Court awarded £3 11/0, an increase of 5/- on the previous wages.]
