EXPRESS TRAINS.
RESUMPTION OF SERVICE. DEPARTMENT SILENT. Press Association. WELLINGTON, September 5. A statement was published this morning that the express trains are likely to resume running on September 13. Inquiry at the Railway Department elicited the reply that the department could not make any announcement on the matter, and had no comment to make on the report. THE AUCKLAND MINES. Press Association. AUCKLAND, September 4. So far as the Auckland provincial coal-mines are concerned, it appears that the “go-slow” policy is being conducted in only three mines, viz., the Taupiri Extended mine at Huntly, the Rotowaro mine and the Pukemiro Company’s mine. This is interpreted by those in the industry to indicate that all the miners are not of one mind as regards the easing up policy. In this connection it is reported that when Mr J. O’Brien, the representative of the North District on the executive of the Miners’ Federation, met the Hikurangi miners last Tuesday, hj& was given a mixed reception.
