A STAFF DANCE.

Last evening the staff of Messrs Andrew Lees, Ltd., and their friends, spent a jolly time in the Caledonian Hall, the occasion being the first dance promoted by the*firm, a "Peace dance," and also, it is hoped, the forerunner of many more, as it is intended to make the ball an annual event. The hall was prettily decorated in a cheerful scheme of pink and white, streamers of these colours radiating in all directions from a '' centre of gravity" in the middle of the ceiling, and baskets overflowing with pink and white artificial cherry blossom being suspended above the heads of the dancers. A huge bell of the blossoms was a central feature of the floral deeorations, and the monogram of the firm was worked out in pink and white at one end of the room. An adjoining room served as a lounge, and a tempting supper was served upstairs, the tables being decorated with spring flowers. Miss Macdonald's orchestra supplied the music, Mr J. Buchanan being M.C. The committee who arranged the dance included the Misses E. Bichards, M. Gibson, I. Haynes and Mr C. Alahole. Dancing was, of course, the main item on the programme, but a few entertainment items were also given, including songs by Messrs Bay Harrison, Werrin, Parlott and J. Broome. Mr C. Nathan assisted with the accompaniments, most of which were played by Miss Macdonald. The dance was kept up.until the small hours, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who were present.
