STOCK SALE. i The fortnightly stock sale held yes- : terday was poorly attended. There was i a scarcity of sheep offering. The yard- 1 ing comprised 300 two, four and sixtooth wethers, which realised 23/6 to 28/8, and 200 f.m. breeding ewes, which failed to find a purchaser, being passed at 26/6. Fats. —There was only one pen of six fat ewes yarded, which changed hands at 33/3.Pigs. —Two pens of weaners realised from 21/- to 23/6, and one store pig was sold at 30/-. head of cattle were offered, but failed to reach owners' reserve, being passed at £9 10/- and £6 respectively. ST. MASK'S CHURCH. A general meeting of the congregation of St. Mark's Church was held to-day in the schoolroom to discuss the parish finances. Mr W. Balrow (vicar's warden) occupied the chair, and apologised for the absence of the vicar (Rev. E. Blakiston). Mr Penny outlined the position with regard to the Vicarage Building Fund Loan, and on his motion, seconded by Mr T. Smith, it was decided to approach the Church Property Trustees to extend the present loan for 10 years from date, and to grant an additional loan of £IOO for the purpose of building a new vestry. SOUTH BAKAIA ROAD BOARD. The So'uth Rakaia Road Board held its usual monthly meeting yesterday, there being present: Messrs A. J. Magson (chairman), J. Lambie, H. J. Harrison, A. Drummond, and T. Blackley. A letter was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs, asking for particulars of various functions held iu the district for the purpose of Peace, it being the intention of the Minister to place a complete record of the different functions held throughout New Zealand in the Dominion Museum and various libraries. —It was decided, to comply with the request. The officer in charge of the Valuation Department, advised that the rate poll was not ready, owing to the delay in the sitting of the Assessment Court. A motion cabled at the last meeting to strike a farthing rate is to be confirmed at the next sitting of the "board, when all rates will be called, with the exception of those.under dispute. The latter will be held over pending the

sitting of the Assessment Court. A letter from the Mayor of Ashburtou relativo to the erection of a Peace Memorial in Ashburton was received. The board decided to take no action, on | account of the proposal to erect a memorial in the board's own district. j Mr L. Corduer, who was recontly appointed clerk and overseer to the j board, tendered his resignation on I account of his appointment as the local i agent of the New Zealand Loan and I Mercantile Company.
