A "MANIPULATED" VOTE. By Cable — Pi-ss Association — Vovyright. (Rcc. May 19, noon) SYDNEY, May 19. Speaking at the Lyceum Hall, the Rev. S. J. Hoban said he could not understand why the vote in New Zealand so strongly favoured Continuance, but he mentioned a cable message received by the New Zealand Alliance stating that the vote at one military camp in England had been manipulated. STATEMENT DENIED. Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 19. With' reference to the cable message from Sydney to the effect that the Rev. S. J. Hoban stated that the New Zealand Alliance had received a cable alleging that the vote at one of the military camps in England had been manipulated, the New Zealand Alliance has been communicated with, and the Rev. R. S. Gray says the Alliance has no cable to that effect, and if Mr Hoban has a cable or knowledge of such a thing it is not knowledge that came from the New Zealand Alliance.
