MINISTER ARRANGES CONFERENCE. • Acting on the suggestion of the Mayor of Chrlstehurch (Mr H. Holland) the Minister of Public Health (Hon. G. W. Bussell) this morning agreed to meet the T>ity members of the medical profession iu conference, to consider the deadlock which exists between the Canterbury branch of the New, Zealand Division of the British Medieal Association and the local Epidemic Committee, owing. to the Minister having refused to pay the fees whieh the association considered to be a fair remuneration for the services of "block" doctors during the .epidemic The Mayor, Mr M. J. Gresson, Dr. J. P. Duncan (president of. the Canterbury branch of the 8.M.A.) and Mr W. S. YTharton (secretary of .the North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board) this morning waited upon the Minister as a.deputation from the Epidemic; Committee,' to discuss the question of the allocation of the medical men to "blocks" in the event of a recrudescence of the epidemic In relating to a Sun reporter the nature of the business transacted, Mr Bussell said that the question of. the impasse had been raised "and thoroughly considered. ■Eventually Mr Holland made his suggestion and tho Minister*agreed to return to Cliristchurch in time for the conference to take place at 11 a-m. next Saturday.
