YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS.

The second day of the ninth annual festival of'the Christchurch Competitions Society was well patronised by the public yesterday, both the day sessions in the Theatre Royal and Choral Hall, respectively, and in the evening in the Theatre Royal. The standard of /he performances was very good and many of the contests proved extremely close. The results are as follow: DOMINION RECITATION (open class, ladies. Own selection). Recalls.

The section was a somewhat disappointing one.

Children's items are occupying the attention of the adjudicators at both the Theatre Royal and Choral Hall to-day. The entries are particularly large, and the attendance quite in keeping.
