FRUIT-GROWING.

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The Canterbury Fruit-Growers' Association met on Saturday evening, when Mr C. P, Taylor (president) occupied the. chair. There was a large attendance. Jo reply to a. letter regarding the establishment of an experimental orchard near Christchurch, the New Zealand Fruit-Growers' Association wrote stating that the Horticultural Division had already under consideration a proposition to lease an orchard in each of the principal fruit-grow-ing districts, including Nelson, Central Otago. Canterbury, Hawke's Bay and Auckland. An expert would be in charge of each orchard. The letter was received. The committee's action was approved in deciding to recommend that the receipts for the next national apple show should Tie devoted to the English Horticultural Society’s War Relief Fund. Mr G. Stratford, who has recently been appointed an assistant to the local horticultural district, was formally welcomed. An interesting paper was read by kl r L. Shearman (Heathcofe Valley) oT tomato-growing, at the conclusion of which a hearty vote of thanks was accorded him.
