WHAT THE NAVY HAS DONE. THE MAYOR QUOTES FIGURES. Speaking at the unveiling of the volt of honour of the Linwood School last evening, the Mayor of Christchureh (Mr IT. Holland) referred briefly to the magnificent work of the British Navy. Quoting figures, he said that at the outbreak of war the British navy was manned by 145,000 men. To-day it hjul 430,000 men.
