Lpham), a claim tor £l9l X/- f or fioo .; s sllp pi ic(l .indgment was given for plaintiff for £lB9 W-. Claim for Wages.—Mary Cecilia Hall and Ihomas Andrew Hall (Mr 0. T. J. Alper-) claimed £ls 14/- from H. II Cook (Mr II |J Acland). Mr Alpers said that the plaintiffs had purchased the Little River Boardinghouse, but had failed to make it pay Some time later the defendant called upon Mr Hall, and, explaining that he was a mortgagee, said that he wanted him to stav on and keep the place going until Cook got a buyer. This the plaintMls consented to do, I aim they held on until they went bankrupt ! Hie claim was for wages for keeping the "! )U . se "I' oll - Mr Acland contended that the plaintiffs had applied to be put upon a wage basis, but this had been refused. Cook had only promised to give Hall a lew pounds to carry on. Cook had paid them 1. for this purpose. The Magistrate said that he thought that the .-'aim was a fair one, and gave judgment for the amount claimed.
