NURSE MAUDE'S "DAY."

OVER £S72 RAISED. The Christchurch public rose to the occasion. yesterday, and the total amount raised by the street collection, stalls, coin photograph, etc., in aid of the Nurse Maude District Nursing Building Fund, aggregated £972 17/U—----quite near the thousand mark. This must be regarded as very satisfactory by the promoters, especially as the afternoon was not at all propitious for collecting, being wet, bleak, and generally "stav-«t-homeish." The total sum to'date is" £2640 11/Bi, which should be sufficient to put the Building Fund well on its feet, £2500 being the sum specified as necessary. However, there is no doubt that the surplus will all be required before the last word is said in the construction of the new premises. The street collection yesterday yielded £595 18/3*. The "Lyttelton Times" staff collected £49 6/11; sweets stall, £6 14/21; cake stall, £37 1/1; produce stall, £B3-17/3; flower stall, £2,3; Nurse Maude's photo; £129 12/4}; result of Pomeranian dog given by Mrs Hucks, and art unioned by Mrs Selig, including a donation of £lO f rotn Mr 6.
