ADDINGTON YARDS.

THE METROPOLITAN MARKET. Fair entries of fat stock were available at the Arlington metropolitan market to-day, mutton being in particularly good supply. It was noticeable that exporters operated much more freely than usual for all classes of beef, this being attributable by many to an improved prospect for the disposal of hides. The attendance of farmers was very good. STORE SHEEP. An improved inquiry resulted in the store sheep section, where the yarding itself was small, but-the quality much above the average ruling during the past few weeks. Lambs and wethers comprised the main portion of the yarding, and the demand for tiiese was extremely good. In fact, for lambs there was a somewhat rising tendency apparent, the increase being about 6d per head. The demand, too, was better for ewes where there was some certaiuty about the tupping. The range of prices was as follows: Four, six, and eight-tooth ewes, to 25/6. Sound-mouth ewes, to 27/.'?. Two-tooth wethers, 22/7 to 27/8. Two and four-tooth wethers, to 27/]. Four and six-tooth wethers 19/3 to •",1/8. Ewe lambs, to 2.3/-. Mixed sex lambs, 23/4 to 24/8. Wether lambs, to 22/-. A substantial increase in the fat sheep yarding resulted, eleven races being filled as against eight the week previously. Some prime quality wethers and ewes were represented. FAT LAMBS. A keen sale of lambs resulted, values being better by 6d a head, although the quality fell below the average. The yarding was a trifle larger than usual, 2370 being penned as against 2176 the previous week. The firm note extended to all ranges of quality. Quotations were:— Extra prime lambs to 35/3. The bulk of the fat cattle yarding, which was about equal in size to last week's, was of a useful class, whilst the demand showed a slight improvement. An indifferent assortment of store cattle was again the case, the entry being meagre. An exception to the ruling quality was provided by a few pens of good steers. YEALEBS. Yeal calves were in but moderate supply as compared with receut entries, but there were some nice animals penned. FAT PIGS. Fat pigs were in small supply, principally of medium quality. There was a free demand for all classes, and price 3 advanced slightly compared with those eurrent last week. Quotations are:— Choppers, £5 to £7 10/-. Extra heavy baconers, to £6 10/-.
