AMENDED REGULATIONS.

ARBITRATION ASSESSORS' FEES.' The secretary of the Department of; Labour, Mr F. W. Rowley, lias circular-! ised labour unions informing them that! the regulations governing the payment' of assessors on Conciliation Councils! have been amended by providing that' the fees and expenses shall be paid only| for the time occupied by the assessor; within the industrial district to which; the dispute relates. The effect of this! would be to prohibit the payment of expenses of assessors from other parts 1 of the Dominion. An exception is made, I however, where the Conciliation Commissioner certifies that the dispute ex-j tends to any other industrial district and that a settlement arrived at is intended to form the basis of the settlement of a dispute in other districts.
