ASHBURTON SHOW.

THE CONCLUSION. Both from the point of view of the entries and the attendance of the public, the forty-first annual show of the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association, held in the Ashburton Show Grounds yesterday, was in every way a success. The organisation was also complete, and the judging was proceeded with expeditiously. Amongst those present was the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, Minister of Agriculture, who expressed himself as pleased with the evident prosperity of the district as illustrated by the high standard of the exhibits. He conversed during the day with a number of farmers concerning the wheat position, but did not address the public. The quality of the stud sheep was good generally, although some of the animals lacked show condition. Somt well-finished fat sheep came forward, although not of a great size. The Shorthorn and Holstein classes in the cattle section were good, but the Ayrshire and other breeds were only mediocre. The fat cattle, however, called for special mention, and a large fat black bullock, owned by Mr F. G. Frampton, of Brookside, excited general attention, in the opinion of many farmers being almost perfectly proportioned. The draught horse classes included several young animals, all of a good stamp, whilst the lighter horses were especially good, and the displays of jumping given excellent. The other sections were quite up to standard. In addition to the list published yesterday, the following awards were made:— HORSES.
