RED CROSS MOTOR CARNIVAL.

FINAL MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The final meeting of tlie executive of the Red Cross Motor Carnival was held last evening, Mr P. E. Climie presiding. A statement of receipts and expenditure presented showed receipts £I2SS 0/9, expenditure £4Ol, 15/5, leaving a credit balance of £SS6 5/4, subject to deductions for grants, etc., voted, and one or two outstanding accounts. A deputation, consisting of the chairman and Mr A. McKellar, was appointed to interview the Minister of Internal Affairs to try to secure a rebate of the amusement tax in connection with the carnival. A bonus of £SO was voted to the secretary, Mr H. J. Knight. A sum of £25 was voted to Mrs Whitehead, whose husband met with a serious accident whilst competing at the carnival. A sum of £5 5/- was voted to the St. John Ambulance for their attendance at the carnival. < Votes of thanks were accorded various persons and organisations who assisted with the carnival. During the evening the chairman presented to Mr F. Haworth the gold medal won by him as a member of the South Island winning team in the Inter-Island Eelay Race, and Mr A. S. Clarkson presented the chairman with a silver salver find trophy won by him in the Acceleration Race.
