SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

PAPANUI. The Pspanui School Committee met on Monday, there being present—Messrs Patrick (chairman). Smith, Mulholland, Gihbs. Crosbic, and Witherington. The master's report showed the roll number at the main school to be 318 and the average attendance 281. At tlfe Bligb’s Road School the numbers were 120 and 112 respectively. The master requested the committee to write to the Education Hoard recommending Mr Sargison to be appointed permanently as assistant master, and also to consider the question of procuring a piece of ground for school gardening for the boys. The board wrote staling that Miss Mary Dennehy had been appointed to the position of pupilteacher. Accounts 1o the amount of 10/S) were passed for payment. A meeting of the Waltham School Committee was held on Monday, Hie following members being present:—Mr C. V. Harvey (chairman), Mcsdames Wilson and Besley, Messrs T. Mortloek, W. Wraight, A. Watkins, J. L. Fordo, and T. C. Hill. The headmaster's report stated that the average attendance for the past month was (Hi), with a roll number, of 6!M. The highest attendance was 4559. The Board of Education advised the committee that Miss B. Smith and Mr H. A. Saunders had been appointed pupil-teachers, and Miss V. Shncock probationer. Accounts amounting to £2 11/3 were passed for payment. The Visiting Committee’s report was very satisfactory. Mcsdames Wilson and Besley and Mr Watkins were appointed a new committee for the last month of the year.
