MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

TO-DAY’S CASES. Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.. preside*! at the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Drunkenness. —A first offender for drunkenness was fined 5/-, in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. Bobert Balloon, charged with helpless drunkenness, was convicted and ordered to pay expenses amounting to £2. Second-hand Dealer’s Act.—John Snell, a second hand dealer, and Bobeit Graham, his employee, were charged ■with purchasing artiefes from a person under 16. Mr M. Donnelly appeared for both, and admitted the offences. Mr Donnelly said that Mr Snell had been in business for about 25 years in this city, and had never given any trouble | to the police in regard to his business, iln this particular case he did not think ' that the articles, old scrap iron, came I within the section. Each defendant was 1 fined 20/- and costs.
