WAR SUPPLIES.

STATEMENT BY HON. A. MYERS. A statement was made by the Hon, Arthur Myers (Minister in Charge of Munitions and Supplies) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon, to the effect that the total value of orders placed by the department under his control, since its inception over two years ago, was approximately £3,100,000, made up as follow: —Clothing, £1.575,000; footwear, £175,000; hardware, £76,000; food, £947,000; forage, £49,000; drugs, £15,000; bedding, £157,000; miscellaneous, £106,000. The total number of articles represented by the orders placed during the period above mentioned amounted to, roughly, £07,000,000. Included in this total ' were:—Boots, 150,000; shoes, 76.000; socks, 211,000; jerseys, 83,000; underpants, 170,000; undershirts. 176,000; tunics, 134,000; trousers, 930,000; blankets 211,000; cholera belts, 91,000; great coats, 85,000; pantaloons, 26,000; putties, 146; hats, 118,000.
