By the destruction of the bridges over the Isonzo and a successful action, our covering units detained the enemy's advance. Our cavalry is in contact with the hostile vanguards.
ENEMY THRUST ON THE CARNIO ALPS FRONT.
(A. & N.Z. & Reuter.) ] LONDON, Oct. 30. A German offic '1 message says: —We are pressing on towards the Tagliamento. Austro-Germans from the Carnic Alps gained a foothold in Venetian soil along the whole front. The Carnic Alps are on the north-eastern border of Italy—to the north of the region at present being invaded.
FRONTIER CLOSED TO SCREEN TROOP MOVEMENTS.
("Times" Service.) KOSffE, Oct. 30. The Austro-Swiss frontier is again closed. Germany is sending more troops to Italy.
