—————-o . MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery was held to-day, there being present:—The Revs. F. Rule (Moderator), J. \V. Wayward, Dr Erwin, A. T. Thompson, J. Paterson, T. McDonald, J. A. Brown. A. Laishley, J. Dickson. J. Johnson, D. I). Roger, W. 11. Howes, J. Watt, G. Lindsay, N. McCallum, and C. Murray (clerk); elders: Messrs J. Corbelt, J. Sutherland, J. Mitchell 1). Mclntyre, J. B. Bickerstafi", W. J. Harvey; W. Willis, and F. R. Charman. It was decided to alter the method of appointing the Moderator of the Presbytery. The Moderator will be appointed from a list on which all the ministers' names will be entered in the order of the date of their induction. The ministers who had been inducted, and who had not held the position, would be next appointed to the position of Moderator. A commission appointed to visit Hornby will consist of the Revs. J. Paterson, A. T. Thompson, C. Murray (convenor), and Mr Seager. The Rev. J. Paterson reported on the hospital visits. He said that no laxity existed on the part of the ministers? It was against the rules of the hospital to go from bed to bed. The Presbytery decided to place on record the high appreciation of the services of the Rev. J. J. Bates on his leaving Lyttclton to take up the charge of West Taicri, in the Presbytery of Dunedin. The Rev. J. Johnson reported on his visitation of Cust on March 5. There were two preaching stations and one church. Forty families were connected with the charge, and the average at public 'worship was good. There were 50 communicants on the roll. The income for 1944 was £23!), for 1915 £303, and for 1916 £256. There was no debt on the church. Dr Erwin mentioned that the official opening of the St. Andrew's College would take place on Saturday next. The Moderator had been invited to deliver a brief address at the social function in connection with the opening.
